Pricing

Basic charges

As two services equal by name are rarely equal by the amount of time required for their completion, we charge our services on an hourly basis, to avoid what would amount to subsidizing one client at the expense of the other. Our present rate is Canadian $75.00 per hour, with any incurred online costs and other disbursements added to our fees. There are no minimum charges.

Urgent service charges

Urgent service charges of 25% of the regular price of the service may apply to services rendered on an urgent basis. Look for details under Turnaround time below.

No urgent service fees will be charged if an urgently requested service can be accommodated within the requested period of time without substantially interfering with our scheduled work. This usually happens for services which can be handled from our office, by using our online searching capabilities. You may wish to check with us if urgent service charges will apply to your order, before sending it.

Cost estimates

We gladly provide cost estimates for any specific service or investigation and undertake searches within an imposed cost limit. In the latter, as in any other case, we do not spare every reasonable effort to provide the best value for the money, mostly by making use of the best information sources for the problem at hand. Alternatively, we accept instructions as to the scope of the search and information sources to be used. As limited or as complete and comprehensive a search may be requested as justified by budget and circumstances.

Turnaround time

For most bibliographic searches, this time is between 3 and 5 working days, if they require access to manually searchable information sources outside our office. Urgent service charges may apply if results are required within 2 working days or less. For bibliographic searches requiring information sources accessible from our office, the turnaround time can be even less than 24 hours, if requested, usually without incurring urgent service charges.

For art searches, the turnaround time is typically between 10 and 14 working days, if they require access to manually searchable information sources. Urgent service charges may apply if results are required within 7 working days or less. For art searches handled from our office using electronic databases, the turnaround time is typically between 5 and 7 working days, with urgent service charges usually applied if results are required in 4 working days or less.

Reporting

Our reports are delivered as a hard copy or in a computer-readable form, by courier, mail, fax, modem, or e-mail. We also supply copies of documents located by our searches or otherwise of interest to our clients. When sending your request, please indicate your preferences regarding the form and means by which our report should be delivered. In the absence of clear instructions to this effect, a hard copy will be forwarded to you by regular mail.
